FWA Supports Colusa Western Days
On Friday, April 4, 2008, Ashley Indrieri, FWA executive director, and Debbi Lemburg, FWA office manager, participated in Farm Day at the Colusa fairgrounds, in conjunction with the Colusa Western Days.
This event is held every year and gives booth participants a chance to distribute information and educate elementary grade students regarding pertinent issues useful to our rural communities.
FWA chose to present California facts, the importance of agriculture to our local communities, water, farmers and conservation, and the fishery resources, with special emphasis on the state of the chinook salmon and the fish screen program.
Over 500 students attended the event held at the Colusa fairgrounds. This is a great event and a way to directly make contact with school age children on issues that will truly affect their rural lives.
Later in the evening, Ashley participated in the team penning event of the Colusa Western Days. Shown at left on her mighty steed, Ashley prepares herself for alot of fun, laughs, and fast paced action. Ashley looks forward to participating in the event on an annual basis.■
