New Colusa County State Capitol Display
For months, a community effort has been underway to revitalize the Colusa County State Capitol Display. The new display highlights the county’s agricultural heritage, natural resources and recreational opportunities. The display is located right outside the Governor’s office and is noticed by hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
The committee who spearheaded the effort to redo the County display includes: Gerry Hernandez, Colusa County; Ashley Indrieri, Family Water Alliance; Kim Davis, former field representative for Senator Sam Aanestad; Ed Hulbert, Colusa Industrial Properties; Donna Critchfield, Colusa City Council Member; Sue Graue, Colusa Regional Medical Center, Mike Murray, UC Cooperative Extension emeritus; Chris Greer, UC Cooperative Extension County Director; Kay Spurgeon, Colusa
County Superintendent of Schools; and Alex Evans, Colusa County Office of Education Technology Coordinator. This committee, in cooperation with the Colusa County Board of Supervisors, wanted to assure that the natural beauty of Colusa County was on display for those that visit the State Capitol.
The display was unveiled at the State Capitol on June 29th. Senator Doug LaMalfa, Assemblyman Nielsen and Colusa County Supervisor Kim Vann joined the committee to celebrate the new Colusa County display.
The committee needs to add a few finishing touches on the display, we invite those interested from the community to take a look at the new display on your next trip to the State Capitol. ■
